Herbed Rice Pilaf with Peas

When I asked Sophie what she'd like to have for her birthday party dinner, she told me that she wanted steak, rice and raisins.  But not together.  Good idea, I thought, and went off to search for a rice dish that would be easy to make right before we would eat.  I looked all over for something that would have good flavor and also some color, finally settling on just the rice portion of this recipe.  Like always, I can't leave any recipe alone, so I made a few changes.  The result was delicious and easy.  I'll definitely make this one again, and particularly love it because it contains ingredients that I almost always have on hand.
