Chicken Wild Rice Soup

Marty really loves wild rice.  I think it tastes like sticks.  You say tomayto, I say tomahto, let's make a pot of wild rice soup that can make everybody happy. 

I started with a recipe from Betty Crocker for a slow cooker wild rice soup.  From there, I made changes to make it non-dairy and to fit with ingredients I had on hand.  Marty loved it, I thought it did not taste twiggy, and the kids even had a bowl - all around a great success.  I'll definitely make this again.

There are a lot of steps to this recipe but it really was so good that I'd do it this way again.  The prep work could easily be done a day ahead and combined for the slow cook portion, which of course requires no work at all.
